Elevating the In-Person Experience
How do you create an in-person virtual reality training experience that will educate, attract, and delight participants? As an industry leader, AT&T is always in pursuit of innovative, cutting-edge technology, and groundbreaking communication techniques. Rather than recite a conventional pitch about their digital security capabilities at the biggest industrial technology trade show in the world (Hannover Messe), AT&T decided to flip the script. The company came up with the idea to transport visitors to the Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) to teach them what it’s like to neutralize a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.
Creating a Gamified VR Training Experience
We aimed to create an astounding VR training experience by using the GNOC as a futuristic backdrop to narrate the intricate process of detecting and eliminating a DDoS attack. To make it a more interactive presentation, we included several moments that allowed users to follow the action with their headsets.
Inside the experience, we used infographics to deliver background points; several calculating graphs; and floating, number-filled windows to establish a futuristic theme for the project. We also included quality sound effects to enhance and complete the feeling of a digitized, high-tech atmosphere.
Boosting Sales Leads with VR Training
The presence of a VR training experience at the event served as an instant draw to AT&T’s booth. By appealing to visitors’ desire and expectation for new technology, AT&T was able to blow its initial target number of visitors out of the water. Several testimonials confirmed the positive and unparalleled efficacy of VR in communication. Because of the interactive VR experience, AT&T’s message stuck with visitors and attracted viable sales leads.
